MUTANTS: THE FACTS.
Before the war, everyone thought the human race had reached the end of its evolutionary cycle, but the radiation that swept the planet following the catastrophic bombings affected a select number of the remaining population, essentially changing them at the molecular level and as a result, shifting their genetic makeup. Most of these mutants, as they would be called, are invisible to the naked eye and could walk through a crowd without being spotted. Everyone knows that wildlife was warped and ruined by the radiation, the animals untreated after the medications were released to the surviving populace, but those that evolved within the human race keep their identities secret, for their own safety.
After the war ended in 2012, the radiation that covered the globe took its time to creep in and do its work, and as a result, mutants did not start to appear for some time after the fallout, some without even knowing that they had been changed at all. Everyone got sick, many died, and those who suffered radiation poisoning simply thought they were riding out the sickness like everyone else. But for those who were changed in ways that medications couldn’t combat, the effects varied, the timeframe was different from person to person.
Some mutants discovered their abilities within months, others are still going about their day to day lives without the slightest idea that they have extraordinary abilities, what many of the world’s remaining population would call monstrous powers. The world is still living in fear, and the creatures inhabiting the wastelands hardly help to put minds at ease.
What triggered the revelations of powers? Anything from dire circumstances needing extreme solutions to a chance accident; just as with the development of the mutation itself, the initial ‘event’ is different for each individual, and there is nothing to dictate what will set it off each time. After all, these are unpredictable times, and the mutants hiding amongst what is left of the human race are equally as unpredictable…
NB. You may not apply for a mutant who is unaware of their power without mod permission. Additionally, mutants who have not yet discovered their powers may not discover them until the mods have given the player written permission to do so.
